Elements of a Successful Commercial Script

Having the right commercial can be the difference between your company succeeding and failing. And while in today’s world traditional television commercials aren’t as important as they used to be, they are still an effective marketing tool. The average American consumes several hours of TV each and every day. Even if they aren’t actively paying attention to what’s on screen, an effective commercial will make anyone look up from what they’re doing. Of course, there are many different components of a commercial, but it all starts with the script.

Writing a strong script for a commercial can be tricky for a few reasons. For one thing, the average commercial is only 30 seconds long. That means you have very little time to get your message across. There isn’t room for paragraphs of dialogue that explain every aspect of your product or service. The words have to work in conjunction with the images, and they have to do so in a very short amount of time.

Short sentences that grab the viewer are ideal, as they will likely tune out if your commercial is full of long, complicated, imprecise verses. Being direct is also important. Many people aren’t even in the room when commercials are on TV, so they should be able to listen to it and still understand what you are selling, even if they can’t see the commercial itself.

If you’re struggling to come up with the perfect script for your next commercial, we can help. Contact the team at Omni Media Productions today!
